[edit] Plot

Charlie Kemp preparing to meet his destiny.

It is the year 2010. An Italian scientist is working on an experiment that deals with ocular frequencies. While conducting some tests, this scientist accidentally discovers a frequency which allows him to see God and the realm that much of western humanity refers to as heaven. Shortly after this discovery, nearly all of the nations of the world are thrown into chaos and disarray. God, disappointed with our violent reaction to his/her/its unveiling, declares that humanity is not worthy of this blue planet which he/she/it has bestowed upon us. God therefore assembles his/her/its forces and attempts to retake Earth. From chivalrous knights, to feudal samurai, to loud mouth politicians, trigger happy flag wavers, religious fanatics and everyone in between; "Niente: The Movie" is an exploration and a discovery of what it means to be human on every level and in every sense of the word.

[edit] Development

Niente: The Movie began development in 2005 by Igor Zhukovsky, Ernie Zahn and Tom Stroll, while the three were still in High School together as classmates. The initial concept for the film was quite different than what is eventually became once the film's screenplay was in its first draft. The original title for the film was, The Socratic Method and it would have been a feature comedy that followed the life of one individual that engaged in Socratic dialogs as a sort of sport. Once the three (Igor Zhukovsky, Ernie Zahn and Tom Stroll) began developing solid ideas for this film, they all discovered a that were too many limits to this concept. A second issue would arise in addition, all three developers would be parting ways during mid-2005 to go off to their respective colleges as freshmen. As a result, if all three members were going to be involved in the production of the film, it would be a geographical impossibility to conduct filming during the school year. The three therefore decided to use summer vacation time for filming. This decision only came with newly added problems. If this film was to be completed over the course of more than one summer, it would be difficult to maintain the same cast and crew for such a long period of time. The three then came up with the idea of a sketch comedy film. This way: they would not need to maintain the same cast, they could write each scene as the production progressed, they could acquire crew and raise funds only when needed instead of a single budget that needs to be pruned painstakingly. Effectively, this format allows the three men team to produce the film piece by piece at their leisure.

[edit] Writing and Directing

Niente: The Movie is written and directed by Igor Zhukovsky, Ernie Zahn and Tom Stroll. These three have identified themselves as the Niente Team. This will be the first feature length film written and or directed by any of the three members of the team. The screenplay and the scene outlines have seen many drafts from 2005 and even into the point of principle photography in 2008, but have now finally been settled into final forms, with the exception of minor notes and changes. All three of the team members are avid fans of "Classic Adventure." As a result there is much influence in the creation if this screenplay from storytellers such as George Lucas, Lawrence Kasdan and Steven Spielberg. Many elements in Ninte: The Movie are greatly inspired by these storytellers and are prevalent in the directing style the three directors.

[edit] Filming

Principle photography began in mid 2007 and will continue into early Fall of 2008. The three writers/directors also star in the film, but have also served as certain creative staff on the set. Ernie Zahn has often taken the role of Director of Photography and Tom Stroll has served as

Dan Gorka as Ivan, jumping through a door.

Sound Designer/Engineer. Because it can be such a daunting task to take on so many roles on a single set, the roles of Sound Designer/Engineer and Director of Photography have been handed to others who will maintain that role as their main focus throughout production. The new Director of Photography is Daniel Joyella and the new Sound Designer/Engineer Steve Kompar.
